Harrington 10 shots off the lead in France

The Irish have endured a poor start in the first round of the French Open today.

Padraig Harrington has just finished his first round shooting a one-over-par 73. Darren Clarke is a shot further back at two-over.

The Irish are well represented the Le Golf National course in Paris with Damien McGrane, Peter Lawrie, Paul McGinley, Shane Lowry, Gary Murphy, Graeme McDowell, Gareth Maybin and Michael Hoey also competing.

Germany's Martin Kaymer is the early leader after a course record-equalling 62.
