Local hero Shane Lowry went into a play-off for the Irish Open with England’s Robert Rock at Co. Louth today after missing a four-foot birdie putt on the last green which would have made him only the third amateur to win on the European Tour.

Local hero Shane Lowry went into a play-off for the Irish Open with England’s Robert Rock at Co. Louth today after missing a four-foot birdie putt on the last green which would have made him only the third amateur to win on the European Tour.

They tied on the 17-under-par total of 271, two ahead of Swede Johan Edfors.
