Hopes fade of Baltray restart

There was little hope of play resuming in the 3 Irish Open at Baltray today after bad weather forced play to be suspended shortly after the leaders had taken to the course for the tournament's third day.

By 12.30pm - two and a half hours after the suspension - there was still no sign of a restart and with the wind even expected to reach 40mph this afternoon there was a chance of no further play today.

At 2.30pm, players were told that an attempt to restart would be made at 3.15pm. If there were no further interruptions that meant that the third round could still be completed today.

Co. Offaly amateur Shane Lowry remains at the top of the leaderboard, 15 under par after yesterday's stunning 62.
