Monty resumes Cup love affair

Colin Montgomerie will instil a simple winning mentality in his team after being named Europe’s Ryder Cup captain for the bid to reclaim the trophy at Celtic Manor next year.

The 45-year-old Scotsman was named as Nick Faldo’s successor today in Dubai following a unanimous decision from the players’ tournament committee and described it as “the greatest honour for a European”.
