Fog hampers start at the Belfry

The Quinn Insurance British Masters at The Belfry resumed at 7.45am today – but only for two minutes.

A return of the fog which suspended play for over three hours yesterday morning meant that the players had to be brought back to the clubhouse.

Only half the 144-strong field had completed their second rounds and the further delay – likely to stretch into hours again the way it was looking - meant that the third round was almost certainly going to spill into Sunday.

Indian Jeev Milkha Singh, level with defending champion Lee Westwood on six-under par, returned to the 13th tee, but managed to hit only one shot before conditions were deemed unplayable.

He and Westwood were one ahead of a group of four. Scot Marc Warren, Spaniard Alejandro Canizares and Thai Thongchai Jaidee had all reached halfway in the tournament, but Swede Alexander Noren had four holes of his second round to go.
