Shoulder injury puts Monty out

Colin Montgomerie has pulled out of this coming week’s Mercedes-Benz Championship in Cologne with a shoulder injury.

Left out of the Ryder Cup side by Nick Faldo last Sunday – he never gave himself much of a chance of selection after failing to get a top 20 finish in his last six events – Montgomerie saw two specialists and had a scan after the problem developed.
