Ochoa extends lead

Lorena Ochoa carded a third consecutive seven-under-par 66 in Saturday’s third round of the Corona Championship to extend her advantage to five strokes.

It also was the second straight bogey-free round for the native of Mexico, who captured the Kraft Nabisco Championship last weekend and is one round away from following up her 2006 victory.

After a second round which included five birdies and an eagle at Tres Marias Residential Golf Club, Ochoa sank seven birdies, including four straight from the eighth, to move onto 21-under-par.

South Korea’s Inbee Park, who reeled off 10 birdies on Friday to tie Ochoa’s course record, sank six in the third round but also shipped three bogeys to sit in second place at 16-under.

Song-Hee Kim of South Korea, the joint first round leader, is eight strokes back after signing for a 71 on Saturday, while Karine Icher (66) and Na Yeon Choi (70) sit tied for fourth at 12-under.

Defending champion Silvia Cavalleri again failed to record an under-par round and carded a three-over 76.
