Fellow overnight leader Niclas Fasth remains at eight-under through seven, with Vijay Singh a further two shots back with two to play.

World number two Phil Mickelson and England’s Ross Fisher sit a shot back on five-under, while Padraig Harrington, Paul Casey and US Open champion Angel Cabrera remain at four-under after enduring mixed second rounds.

Lee Westwood and Nick Dougherty moved onto three-under-par, but Colin Montgomerie suffered a disastrous end to his second round after a double-bogey at the last left the Scot seven-over-par and well below the projected cut.
