Flesch extends lead in New York
Steve Flesch fired a six-under-par 66 on Saturday to take a four-shot lead after yesterday's third round of the Turning Stone Resort Championship.
Overnight leader Flesch carded seven birdies and a bogey to open up a four-shot cushion over Carl Pettersson, who also signed for a 66, and Charles Warren at 19-under 197.
Three birdies on his first six holes had Flesch off to a fast start before a bogey at the 11th left him two-under.
Flesch dropped a six-foot birdie putt on the 14th and after grabbing a birdie at the 15th and a par a hole later, he closed his round with back-to-back birdies.
"This is the second time this year I've had a lead like this," said Flesch. "It is different this time. The first time, I was playing to secure my card and keep my job. I'm just having fun this week. I've got nothing to lose. I can just go at it and be aggressive."
Parker McLachlin (65) is six strokes adrift of the leader at 13-under 203, with Michael Allen (68) and Bill Haas (69) a further shot adrift.
