Warren wins golfer of the month award

Scotland’s Marc Warren, winner of the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles, has been named European Tour golfer of the month for August.

Warren, the 2006 rookie of the year, beat England’s Simon Wakefield on the second play-off hole on the PGA Centenary Course last weekend.

He claimed the award ahead of Sweden’s Per-Ulrik Johansson, who won for the first time in a decade in the Russian Open, Scandinavian Masters champion Mikko Ilonen and KLM Open winner Ross Fisher.
