Harrington leads Irish challenge at Carnoustie

Padraig Harrington is leading the Irish challenge at the Open Championship in Carnoustie today.

The Dubliner, who gets his opening round underway this afternoon, is fifth-favourite with the bookies to lift the famous Claret Jug on Sunday.

The other Irish competitors are David Higgins, Darren Clarke, Paul McGinley, Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy and Justin Kehoe.

Defending champion Tiger Woods is the favourite to win the event.
