Matthew in hunt as Ahn leads in California

South Korea’s Shi Hyun Ahn shot a four-under-par 68 to lead by one from Lorena Ochoa, after the first round of the Kraft Nabisco Championship at Mission Hills Country Club in California, with Scotland’s Catriona Matthew tied in third.

Mexico’s Ochoa birdied the last to slip into second place with a three-under 69 and raise hopes of completing a famous double on Sunday – a first major title and ending Annika Sorenstam’s six-year reign as the world number one.
