Harrington leading in Los Angeles
Padraig Harrington shot an eight-under 63 in the first round of the Nissan Open in California to claim a three-stroke lead over the field.
Harrington had 10 birdies and two bogeys to lead Phil Mickelson, Briny Baird and Pat Perez by three shots.
This is the first time Harrington has played in the event and he obviously took an immediate liking to Riviera Country Club.
He birdied his first three holes to record a 32 on the front nine. He birdied five of his first six holes on the back nine and finished with a 31.
Mickelson, who has not played this event since 2001, had a bogey-free round in his first round since winning the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am last week.
English golfer David Howell shot a 67 and is among five players four shots behind the leaders.
