Phil Mickelson and Kevin Sutherland reached 14 under par to share the lead after the third round of the £2.8m (€4.2m) AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

John Mallinger is one stroke behind the leaders and Corey Pavin and Davis Love are five back at nine under.

Mickelson shot a two-under 70 at Spyglass Hill, one of three courses used in the event that features amateurs and celebrities.

Sutherland, who two days ago was in 58th place, shot a 67 at Poppy Hills to join Mickelson.

Mallinger finally recorded a bogey after 50 faultless holes on the 15th, but he recovered to post a 68 at Poppy Hills.

Furyk, the co-leader with Mickelson entering the third round, shot a four-over 76 and dropped to a tie for sixth with Jeff Overton, Craig Kanada and Steve Flesch.

England’s Greg Owen fired a one-under round at Spyglass and is seven under, seven strokes behind the leaders.

Compatriots Luke Donald and Brian Davis failed to make the cut at one under.
