Sergio makes slow start

Sergio Garcia, the only member of Europe’s Ryder Cup team taking part in the Omega European Masters, made a slow start to the defence of his title in Switzerland today.

Garcia, who owns an apartment in the town and feels he has “home-field advantage” this week, finished 19th in 2003 and third in 2004 behind house guest Luke Donald before his one-shot victory 12 months ago.
