The former European number one pulled out of the final round of the Bridgestone world championship in America last Sunday and would have missed this week’s BMW International Open in Munich but for the fact it was the final event before Ian Woosnam named his Ryder Cup wild cards.

Paul McGinley is also in the Singapore field.
