Storm threat halts KLM Open

The threat of thunder and lightning forced play to be suspended in the second round of the KLM Open in Zandvoort this morning.

Play began as scheduled at 7.30am local time but was halted just 90 minutes later due to an approaching thunderstorm.

Denmark’s Anders Hansen and France’s Christian Cevaer shared the lead on six under par but were among the later starters today.

A torrential downpour left parts of the course at Kennemer GC under water and meant it looked like being some considerable time before play could resume.

The delay meant it was doubtful whether the second round would be completed on schedule this evening.
