Wie sacks caddie

Michelle Wie’s caddie has claimed he was “shocked and surprised” to be sacked by the 16-year-old.

Greg Johnston began working for Wie when she turned professional last October.

However she failed to break par in any of her four rounds at the Women’s British Open last week, and a tie for 26th was her worst finish in two years.

“I was shocked and surprised. I thought we had a successful year,” Johnston told golfdigest.com.

Wie‘s family claimed Johnson’s departure came “as part of Michelle’s maturation as a golfer“.

Before joining Wie, Johnston had caddied for 12 years for Juli Inkster and carried the American’s bag when she won four majors.
