World number one Annika Sorenstam and American Pat Hurst face an 18-hole play-off for the US Women’s Open title today after they finished tied on even par 284 after a marathon final day at Newport Country Club in Rhode Island.

With Thursday’s play having been wiped out by fog, the players faced 36 holes yesterday.
