Montgomerie catches Ferrie

Colin Montgomerie wiped out Kenneth Ferrie’s five-shot overnight lead in the first nine holes of the Dunhill links championship final round at St Andrews today.

Montgomerie, runner-up to the Northumberland golfer at the European Open in July and to Tiger Woods in the Open over the Old Course two weeks later, holed a birdie putt of nearly 35 feet at the second.
