Mickelson targets Grand Slam

Phil Mickelson is targeting a career Grand Slam after his victory in the USPGA at Baltrusol yesterday.

He is halfway to the feat, something achieved only by Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Tiger Woods.

“Certainly that will be a long-term goal,” he stated. “But right now I just want to savour this victory. It was hard-fought – one of the most stressful tournaments for me because I was in the lead every night. And there was an extra night thrown in for good measure.”

The event went into Monday because of a thunderstorm suspension when Mickelson had four holes to play.

“The thing I’ve learnt most is how important it is to control the miss and take out half the trouble,” added Mickelson.
