Seniors side to represent Ireland named

The team to represent Ireland at the European Seniors and Nations Cup Championship being played at Chantilly Golf Club, France in June has been announced today.

The team to represent Ireland at the European Seniors and Nations Cup Championship being played at Chantilly Golf Club, France in June has been announced today.

Michael F Morris (Portmarnock), Maurice Kelly (Killeen) and Hugh Mackeown (Portmarnock) will represent Ireland in the Championship being played from June 8-10.

Morris, a former Kerry All-Ireland footballer, was the 2004 Irish Seniors Champion, 1978 Irish Close Champion and was a senior international from 1978-1984.

Maurice Kelly was runner-up in the Irish Seniors Championship last week while Hugh Mackeown is also a former senior international having played Home Internationals in 1973.

Ireland last won the Nations Cup in 2001 at Torremirona Golf Club in Spain.

Situated some 50 kilometres north of Paris, Chantilly was founded in 1909 and has hosted several European Championships in the past along with 10 French Opens.
