Monty on a roll

Colin Montgomerie reeled off five birdies in six holes at Wentworth today to give himself a chance of achieving the top-10 finish at the BMW Championship which could earn him a place in next month’s US Open.

Down in 37th place at the start of the final round three-time winner Montgomerie charged into joint ninth spot – but that, of course, was before all the leaders had teed off again.
