Ryder Cup captaincy up for decision

Ian Woosnam is this morning expected to celebrate his 47th birthday by being confirmed as Europe's next Ryder Cup captain for when the event is staged at the K-Club near Dublin in September 2006.

The Welshman looks set to get the nod over former partner Nick Faldo, who could be compensated by being named skipper for the 37th staging of the event in Louisville in 2008.
