Rose trails leaders in Japan

Justin Rose lies five shots off the lead at the halfway stage of the Casio World Open in Japan.

Rose carded a second-round 71 for a four-under total of 140 as he chases a first win of a disappointing campaign.

Colin Montgomerie also recorded a 71 but that was only good enough to scrape through to the weekend on the cut mark of one over following an opening 74.

South Africa’s Charl Schwartzel leads on nine under par after rounds of 68 and 67.
