Els favourite to retain title

Defending champion Ernie Els is the hot favourite to retain his HSBC World Match Play Championship and become the first player to win the title six times.

Els has the advantage of local knowledge – having made his home on the Wentworth estate – and that could help explain his hat-trick of titles between 1994 and 1996 and back-to-back victories in the last two years.
