Els joins Woods as Open favourite

Tiger Woods is now only joint favourite for the Open with Ernie Els, according to bookmakers Ladbrokes.

The pair are listed at 8/1, the biggest price Woods has been offered at in any tournament for five years.

“With the weather forecast promising wind and rain over the four days we think Woods is really going to struggle,” said Ladbrokes’ Balthazar Fabricius. “In the past, whenever he has had to put a rain mac on, he has always found it difficult.”

The world number one is only 10/1 to miss the halfway cut.
