Belgian shoots up leaderboard
Didier de Vooght of Belgium made a blistering start in the third round of the Aa St Omer Open today.
He started out five over after just making the cut but went back to level par after a superb front nine.
After a bogey at the first, he picked up six shots in seven holes to go out in 31.
That put him just five shots adrift of the overnight leader Carl Suneson, who goes out later in the day.
Ian Garbutt made slight progress this morning after scraping into the last two rounds.
The Yorkshireman, who is based in the Algarve, picked up shots at four and five in the third round.
That took him to three over for the tournament after he was in danger of not making the weekend.
Garbutt opened with a five-over par 76 but regained some of his form yesterday by shooting 71.
He started the Challenge Tour season well with a third place finish in the Cable and Wireless Summit Masters.
However he went back to four over at St Omer with a bogey at the sixth and followed that with a par.
