Casey snaps at cameraman

Paul Casey had words with a member of the BBC camera team covering the Volvo PGA championship at Wentworth today after he was put off and then almost had his ball run over by a buggy.

Casey moved into the hunt with an opening four-under-par 68, four behind playing partner Ernie Els, but said he was distracted on “quite a few” occasions.

“I had a good talking to the guy on the 17th, which always helps,” said the Surrey golfer. “I didn’t swear. I was very good.

“He should have been paying attention. On the 16th I was just about to hit my pitch when he came driving through my line of sight, then stopped there. We had to get him moved.

“On the 17th you could see the tyre marks and he missed by ball by a couple of inches. I know it’s difficult because you don’t see where the balls finish, but he should have checked. Simple as that.

“It didn’t affect the lie of my ball, but it is annoying, especially after the previous hole.”
