Dyson slipping back in Shanghai
Simon Dyson was losing his grip on the BMW Asian Open during the final round at the Tomson Golf Club in Shanghai today.
Ireland's Paul McGinley is now looking unlikely to challenge the leaders, as he is on eight under after 14 holes after a mixed round so far featuring three birdies and two bogies.
Meanwhile, Padraig Harrington ended his tournament with a disappointing 74 to finish on three-over-par and well out of contention.
The 26-year-old Yorkshireman, who started the day with a six shot lead, dropped three shots in the first 10 holes to fall back to 12-under-par.
Dyson had shown astonishing form in the opening three rounds, shooting scores of 66, 69 and 66 but seemed to have lost his touch at the crucial stage, while his closest competitors were all rising to the challenge.
The tournament is now headed by Thailand’s Prayad Marksaeng who picked up four shots on his outward nine, to back up his magnificent 67 yesterday and to move a shot ahead of Dyson and stand alone at the top of the leaderboard.
Dyson is now tied for second with Spanish Ryder Cup star Miguel Angel Jiminez, who is also on a charge, picking up four birdies and dropping just one shot after the tenth hole.
Korean K J Choi has gained five shots to sit a further two shots back.
Birmingham’s Sam Walker is the best placed Englishman behind Dyson, tied for 12th on six under.
He has made good progress after yesterday’s fine 68 to pick up five birdies after 15 holes, his scorecard spoilt only by bogies at 11 and 14.
Countryman Paul Eales is in on four under after 16 with a display of steady golf featuring 15 pars and just the one birdie, at the par-four third.
