Woods loses lead at Quail Hollow

Tiger Woods struggled with his swing and plunged five strokes behind leader Arron Oberholser after the third round at the Wachovia Championship.

Woods, who began the round with a two-shot lead, has won the past 18 times that he has held the halfway lead on the PGA Tour, but he will have difficulty keeping the streak alive after digging himself into a deep hole at the demanding Quail Hollow course.

A birdie on the 18th hole for a three-over-par 75 was too little, too late as Woods ended the day tied for 11th place.

Oberholser three-putted for a bogey on the 18th hole, but a 68 was enough to leave him in front at 11-under 205, one stroke ahead of Geoff Ogilvy (66) and Notah Begay (69). Jeff Maggert (67) is two shots behind.

Vijay Singh of Fiji, seeking to win for the third straight week on the PGA Tour, finished with a 71 and is within four shots of the lead.

Oberholser started the day two shots behind Woods, and played the front nine in even par. He made his move with an eagle at the par-five 10th, followed by three birdies in the next five holes.

The 29-year-old who attended San Jose State is in his second year on the PGA Tour and chasing his first career victory.
