McDowell closing in on course record
Graeme McDowell was in the first group out this morning and looks like setting a challenging early clubhouse target.
Another birdie on the 15th took him 13 under for the tournament and seven under for the day, needing one more birdie to match the course record of 64 established on Thursday – although it would not count for record purposes because of the preferred lies in operation.
He was only one clear of Angel Cabrera, however, the Argentinian going to the turn in 32 and then holing from just six feet for an eagle on the first and from even closer on the next for a birdie.
Roe was still not out of the running for his first title in a decade, birdies at the 11th and 13th lifting him to 11 under.
