Singh favourite for win in Houston
Vijay Singh looks to be favourite to win the rain-delayed Houston Open at a soaked Redstone Golf Club today in the first Monday finish on the USPGA Tour this season.
The longer it takes to play the Houston Open, the more it favours the longer hitters.
Rain prompted the suspension of play for the third straight day.
The 71 players who made the cut were able to play only nine holes of their third rounds yesterday.
The second round had not been completed until early Saturday evening.
The third round resumes today at 9am local time, 40 minutes before the final round gets started.
Some of the longer hitters on the tour are in contention, including Vijay Singh, who shares the lead with John Huston and Joe Ogilvie at seven under par.
Singh is through 12 holes of his third round, three behind his fellow leaders.
The Fijian, who eagled his final hole yesterday, has an obvious advantage over Huston and Ogilvie in terms of distance, ranking 16th on tour at an average of 294.8 yards per drive.
Huston is 112th at 281.2 and Ogilvie 98th at 283.0.
The top 19 players are separated by only four strokes.
