Spaniard Miguel Angel Martin admits he is relieved man to be back on the European Tour next season after regaining his tour card.

Martin, who in 1987 achieved the rare feat of scoring 59 in a round in Argentina, saw his career nosedive with injuries to his wrist and elbow.

The Spaniard, who formerly won tournaments in France and Australia, is relieved to have turned the corner.

Finishing only 134th on the Order of Merit in 2003 it was via the Qualifying School that Martinez secured his berth on next year’s tour.

Martin said: “I have not played the School since 1983 so I am very pleased to get through.

“It was important to get back on The European Tour straight away,” he told www.europeantour.com.
