Paul McGinley has retained his Irish PGA Championship title after carding a level-par closing-round 72 at Adare Manor in Limerick yesterday.

Paul McGinley has retained his Irish PGA Championship title after carding a level-par closing-round 72 at Adare Manor in Limerick yesterday.

McGinley finished on eight under par, becoming the first player since 1986 to successfully defend his Irish PGA title.

The Dubliner also won the event in 2000 and 1997.

Gary Murphy was five shots behind McGinley yesterday, while former British amateur champion Michael Hoey took third place.
