Three players – not one of them household names – were battling today to complete the unlikeliest set of Major champions in modern golf history.

South African Tim Clark and Americans Shaun Micheel and Chad Campbell are the front-runners as the US PGA Championship at Oak Hill entered its closing nine holes.

Micheel leads by two shots at three under after 11 holes, with Clark and Campbell each one under.
