Torrance heads to seniors circuit - report
Sam Torrance has quit the European Tour to try his luck on the seniors circuit according to a report.
The victorious 2002 Ryder Cup captain is hoping to win a card to compete on the highly-lucrative Champions Tour in the United States.
He told the Daily Mail: âThatâs it. Itâs time to take up new challenges and to embark on another stage of my career.â
Torrance has played almost 300 European Tour events in a career spanning more than 30 years but has already targeted his first tournament appearance as a senior.
âMy next tournament will be as a senior in my native Scotland at the end of August,â Torrance added.
That tournament â at the Roxburghe in the Borders â precedes the European Senior Masters at Woburn, after which Torrance will look Stateside.
âI am looking for some sponsorsâ invitations in the US to see if I can win my card there,â he said.
âHowever, I will not turn my back on Europe. I never have and I never will.â
