Nissan new sponsors of Irish Open

Nissan Ireland are the new sponsors of the Irish Open golf tournament to be held at the Portmarnock golf club in Dublin.

The tournament is set to take place from July 24 to 27 next year. The north Dublin course has previously hosted the Open on 19 occasions.

John O'Leary was the last Irish man to claim the Irish Open, winning the event on that course in 1982.

The prize fund is also expected to be substantially increased.
