Nordic Open puts Denmark of golfing map

Denmark is to host its first European tour event next season.

The £1m (€1.6m) Nordic Open will be at Simon’s Golf Club near Copenhagen on August 7-10.

Four Danish golfers – Thomas Bjorn, Anders and Soren Hansen and Steen Tinning - have won titles this season. Only Sweden can boast more winners.

Former tour player Anders Sorensen, now chief executive officer of promoters Danish Golf, said as the three-year agreement was announced: “Golf is the fastest-growing sport in Denmark, and I and a number of dedicated partners have worked hard to establish the right foundation for promoting such a huge event as the Nordic Open.”
