The start of the second round of the Italian Open has been delayed indefinitely after a violent overnight thunderstorm in Rome.

The start of the second round of the Italian Open has been delayed indefinitely after a violent overnight thunderstorm in Rome.

Torrential rain during the storm at around 4am this morning local time left parts of the Oligata course under water, and there was a risk of a further storm during the day.
