Walton wins Ashbourne Pro-Am
Philip Walton shot eight birdies to win the Ashbourne pro-am tournament, sponsored jointly by Polyflor Ireland and Pat's Carpets.
The European Tour player carded a super six-under-par 65 to win by two shots from Leslie Walker.
Walton birdied the par four third hole and long holes four and six but then pencilled in bogey fives at the seventh and ninth holes to turn in one-under 35.
On the way home, Walton hit the birdie trail to cover the back nine in 30 strokes (five-under).
A birdie three at the 12th hole was followed by a four at the long 14th and then finished birdie-birdie-birdie going 2-4-3.
Arnie O'Connor led in the winning team that included former Dublin All-Ireland football medallists Charlie Redmond (8) and Mick Deegan (15) along with Tom McCormick (17). They returned 90 points.
