Higgins back on winner's rostrum

Former Faithlegg professional Ted Higgins shot back on to the winner's rostrum at St Helen's Bay Golf & Country Club after the annual Noonan Development Seniors' pro-am tournament.

Higgins closed with a one-over-par 73 for a 36-holes total of 143 (one-under).

That was good enough to give the unattached Ted a one stroke win over Co Louth's Paddy McGuirk who had three shots to spare over third-placed Hugh Jackson.

However, Donabate pro Jackson was also in the spotlight as he once again led his amateur colleagues from Ardee to victory in the team event.

Over the two days Jackson, Jack Duffy, Ritchie Davies and Tony O'Rourke amassed a total

of 189 points, carding 93 yesterday.
