Hegarty snatches share of the lead
Jimmy Heggarty stormed in amidst the gathering dusk at Tullamore last night to snatch a share of the lead after the local clubs' annual pro-am tournament. Jimmy Bolger had sat on top of the leaderboard for hours at level par 70 but that score was matched by Heggarty.
The Spawell touring pro after two bogeys in the first three holes pencilled in a quad of birdies between the fourth and seven holes to turn in two-under-par 33 but then tossed away those two shots with back-to-back bogeys at the 10th and 11th holes.
Conditions were difficult at Tullamore but Bolger steered a steady course of two birdies, two bogeys and 14 pars. He dropped a shot at the short sixth hole but got it back at the short ninth. The Kilkenny pro lost another stroke at the par four 14th but recovered it with birdie three at 16, for two halves of level par.
