Walker leads at Luttrellstown

Leslie Walker's big hitting came into play as he reduced three of the four long holes at Luttrellstown Castle to four shots each time.

That helped the Dundalk pro to a super 66 and victory in the Dublin club's annual pro-am

tournament.

Walker's six-under-par performance gave him a three strokes advantage over the field with Brendan McGovern closest on 69.

The winner had a bogey-free round, beginning his birdie blitz with a four at the 498-yards second hole. He pencilled in birdie three at the fourth to run in two-under-par 34 after just matching regulation at the long ninth hole.

The 12th is a tricky 537-yarder but Leslie hit the green in two for another birdie four and then he rattled off a hat-trick from the 15th hole going 3-2-4 for a homeward run of 32 shots.
