Golf: Pettersson lead cut in half

Sweden's Carl Pettersson found his overnight lead quickly cut in half in the delayed Algarve Open de Portugal.

Pettersson was six shots clear of the field after six holes of his second round before play was abandoned due to strong winds.

But he topped a fairway wood on the seventh on his way to a double-bogey six, and although he followed that with a birdie on the next, two more bogeys left him on five-under-par.

That was now just three ahead of Crewe's David Gilford who had resumed with birdies on the eighth and ninth to claim outright second place, but dropped a shot on the notorious 11th hole to be two under.

Mansfield's Greg Owen and Spain's Miguel Angel Martin will no doubt be feeling increasingly pleased at being safely in the clubhouse on one-under-par after completing their second rounds on Friday.
