France’s Olivier David is in the lead following the opening round of the Madeira Open in Spain today after carding a six-under-par 66.

France’s Olivier David is in the lead following the opening round of the Madeira Open in Spain today after carding a six-under-par 66.

David has a two-shot lead over his compatriot, Benoit Teilleria, who is tied on four under with England’s Miles Tunnicliff. Tunnicliff has yet to complete his opening round. Ireland’s Des Smyth, the defending champion, is one shot further back on three under, as is Frenchman Ilya Goroneskoul.

Seve Ballesteros and Andrew Oldcorn are among a host of players tied on two under par.
