As first round leader Mike Weir slipped up, Toms carded a seven under par 66 and Perry shot a 67 to tie for first place on 11 under par at 135 at the end of the second round.

Weir scorched the plantation course in the first round, equalling the record with a 63 that included a 29 on the front nine.

However the 31-year-old Canadian carded a one over 74 today to drop to fourth, two shots off the lead.

Three days ahead of his 26th birthday, PGA Player of the Year Tiger Woods was on four under 142.
