Sergio Garcia came almost from nowhere to win the Lancome Trophy in Paris today - and boosted Darren Clarke’s hopes of being European number one this season.

Reigning US Open champion Retief Goosen looked set to move nearly £500,000 clear of Clarke at the top of the Order of Merit when he stood four shots clear with only four holes to play at St-Nom-la-Breteche.
