British Seniors Open: Stanley leads into last round
Australian Ian Stanley goes into the last round of the £501,000stg British
Seniors Championship at Royal County down as leader at four-under-par after
posting 70 - his third sub-par round of the tournament.
Stanley made four birdies but also a triple bogey seven at the 8th holes where he drove into a bunker, then got an unplayable on the fairway and finally ended up three-putting.
Stanley is one stroke ahead of American David Oakley and New Zealand
left-hinder Bob Charles while overnight leader John Bland dramatically slid
down the leader to level par - that was five shots tossed away in his round.
Creeping up were John Morgan and Russell Weir who are two under while Jack
Nicolas kept well in the hunt with a round of 70 for one-under and that
despite making bogey at the final three holes. Gary Player is two over.
There won't be an Irish winner this ehyar as the best of the five locals who
made the cut is Eddie Poland, the former Irish Champion having a third round
of 70 to be six-over-par. Denis
