Golf: Kerley manoeuvres past pros

Nuremore Club assistant Brian Kerley upstaged most of the seasoned professionals during the first round of the £12,000 PGA Challenge at Greenore.

Nuremore Club assistant Brian Kerley upstaged most of the seasoned professionals during the first round of the £12,000 PGA Challenge at Greenore.

He fired a super 67 - four-under-par. Only Leslie Walker was able to match Kerley who has yet to win a tournament on the PGA Irish Region tour.

Kerley covered the first nine holes in one-under-par 34 and came storming home in three-under-33 to share the overnight lead going into the last round. The event will be completed today.
